Man shot on Nine Mile (UPDATED)

From the RPD:

Last night at approximately 11:42 p.m., officers were called to 30th Street and Nine Mile Road for the report of a person down.

Officers arrived and found a male who was suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. He was transported to a local hospital where he died early this morning.

The victim has been identified as Benjamin T. Goode, 31, of the 500 block of East Beale Street.

The Medical Examiner will determine cause and manner of death.

Detectives have opened a homicide investigation and believe the victim was shot while in the 1800 block of Creighton Road and ran toward the area of 30th Street and Nine Mile Road where he collapsed.

Anyone with information about this case is asked to call Major Crimes Detective Marshall Young at 804 646-3926 or Crime Stoppers at 780-1000. Citizens can also text Crime Stoppers at 274637, using the key word “ITip” followed by your tip.

This is the 7th homicide in the East End this year, and the 34th in Richmond.

WRIC8 is reporting a shooting on Nine Mile:

The shooting happened just before midnight at the intersection of [North] 30th Street and Nine Mile Road. The victim suffered injuries that were deemed life-threatening.
