From Kimble:
I was on my way back to my house and I saw a rabbit in the front of 806 N 25th Street. I didn’t check to see if the people that lived there had let their rabbit out, but at the same time I would have thought that rabbits would need a little more supervision than what this one was being given.

I saw him this morning as well!
I hope Kimble picked it up and took it somewhere safe.

Hopefully he has owners that he escaped from and someone hasn’t abandoned ANOTHER bunny in our neighborhood.

Is it possible that he’s actually wild, not domesticated? It’s kind of odd to see a rabbit around 25th St, sure, but there are plenty of blocks where there looks to be plenty of open land to support all sorts of wildlife. I know I’ve seen deer, opossums, raccoons and skunks in the city. Why not rabbits? ( just throwing it out there before someone inadvertently tries to tame the wild wife.)

I have actually seen this rabbit hanging out in the backyard of a house (not fenced in) near the corner of Burton & 23rd for over a week now while walking my dog. I went out last night to try and find him/pick him up, but he was gone for once. Probably abandoned when someone moved and might be on the hunt for food, so if you see him again and have the means, please catch this critter!
And this is most definitely a domestic rabbit

As Chris said that is most definitely a domestic rabbit. You’re not gonna get that coloring in the wild. Domesticated rabbits are not built for the wild and s/he’s not going to have the skills to take care of himself/herself. Domesticated rabbits are really prone to overheating and are just all together fragile animals. I’m surprised he’s lasted this long. Does anyone have a humane live cage trap that we can put out for this guy?
I’m pretty sure he’s just hiding Easter Eggs for Sunday.
Grace, if you want to try trapping him, I have a humane live cage trap you can use.
Please get in touch with me if someone gets him! I will try to look around myself as well. I have rabbits and have a lot of experience with them. This is definitely a domestic rabbit.
Also, I’ve got a have a heart trap if you want to set it.
@ Grace D / Kate V – I wondered about the coloring, actually. I assume that wild/undomesticated rabbits are usually mostly brown? I think all the rabbits I’ve seen that I knew were wild were usually brown or close to all brown (maybe white feet?). What’s the easiest way to tell them apart? I ask because I have seen other rabbits in the city and would like to know whether I should be concerned or leave them alone if I see any more of them.
