Y’all see the helicopter up last night?
The Richmond Police Department responded to the robbery of a Chanello’s pizza delivery driver on the 1000 block of Chimborazo Boulevard last night. Two unknown males with guns robbed the driver of money after his delivery and then fled on P Street.

Great. This will encourage those that still haven’t expanded coverage to the Hill to continue to keep the Eastend off their delivery maps…disappointing.
Yep, this is the very reason why restaurants initially didnt deliver to the hill. I mean who wants to make $3 to deliver a Pizza to the hood where you could get held up. Sad part is you cant blame the drivers either…
Real nice, now no one will deliver I’m sure. That’s been an uphill battle as it is.
W.P.P
Surprise me not!
A – this area has gotten much safer in the last few years due to the efforts of residents, homeowners, and even landlords. As someone who has worked hard to make this area safer and more attractive, I find find this extremely discouraging. Whether it’s legal issues/technicalities or lack of resources, it seems like RPD really struggles to police this area. How can we all help?
B – why does any delivery service even deal in cash anymore? Although there are fair concerns about the unbanked population, the solution to this problem is pretty obvious. You can both pay and tip with credit, and I know I would rather have that option exclusively than to have no delivery options at all.
Suggestion: If you order delivery, then try to be on the look out for when the driver gets there. If you have to stand out on your front porch for 5-10 minutes with a flash light, it won’t hurt you. I say this as a person that used to be a delivery driver, and it can ward off a criminal when he sees 2 people instead of just 1.
Well, you don’t have to stand on your front porch waiting. Just be looking out the window every 30 seconds and be ready to pop open the door when the delivery driver pulls up.

@1 Justin, I was thinking the exact thing.
@8 Robbie.. I think that a better policy would be to pay over the phone or online and include the tip. Then the drivers will carry no cash.
robbed is bad..alive is good…could have turned out differently….so grateful….
Like no one ever gets robbed in the suburbs.
@12 Cadeho, Church Hill (North) had a stigma associated with it being the “ghetto” with high crime before gentrification. I recall nearly 20 years ago that even the newspaper would not deliver to certain parts of the East End let alone pizza delivery. There are people who do not live in our neighborhood old enough to remember this and still thinks of the worse hence the comment.
