The other night my gf and I witnessed a young man hitting, kicking, and screaming at his dog at the corner of 25th and broad. We saw the dog cowering and whining during this display. We caught up to him around 28th and broad and confronted him which turned hostile very very quickly. He was clearly tweaking so we did not press too hard.
He looks like your run of the mill trainhopper with his face completely covered in tattoos. He’s probably in his mid 20’s or so and no taller than 5’9 I would say. The dog is a pit mix with a white and very spotted coat.
My gf spent her day off yesterday canvassing the neighborhood trying to find more information and several people have witnessed his behavior with the animal. Several authorities have also been notified.
Here is a link with a printable flyer. Please note the picture in the flyer is not of the actual dog, just a similar looking dog.

I would probably end up with a new dog.
He’s been at the CVS the last two days I believe, haven’t seen him since. Seeing these kinds of people with dogs infuriates me.
I witnessed it briefly. I think he lives across from Chimbo elementary, or at least knows someone there as thats where I witnessed. He didn’t touch the dog but was verbally abusive. I was with my 2-yr so i wasn’t about to say anything.
Thank you! Casey found him!!!
🙁
I know who the guy is. He’s been sitting in the median at the market where you pull in off of main street.
Yes..asking for money
Yes I also saw him walking down Marshall near the school. Anybody want to foster a dog?
I definitely saw this guy with his dog about a week ago! They were walking past my house on 29th & Marshall

Alicia, do you have anymore idea about his whereabouts? Please email me. my contact info is on the flyer in the new story
Thanks for the notice. I will keep a lookout.
Also keeping a lookout. I walk around there often
Jolinda Smithson, if you see him let me know, I wanna talk to the guy ??
He lives in a house?
The safest thing (personal safety) when witnessing something like this is to call the police. Stay a safe distance away from the person. Let the Authorities do their job. They can call Animal Control to check the dog for injuries. The very least is the guy gets checked out by the Police. I wouldn’t advise a citizen to approach a person that is sketchy. You might end up getting more than you bargained for if the person is unstable and attacks you.
also, (if possible) I would suggest recording a video on a cell as evidence (from a safe distance); I have purchased food for the dog a few times, but haven’t seen him since last Weds. I’ve never seen him abuse the dog… sad to hear others have witnessed this.
I’ve seen that guy and his dog outside Farm Fresh on several occasions.
We could team up. I will act interested in the scam, have a $20 in my hand and my partner can grab the dog. We will need a get away driver
Deal! Honestly he makes over $100 a day panhandling tho, even registered as a service dog
I just saw this guy out side of CVS yesterday asking for money.
Anyway the dog can be taken from him?

@Robbie Summey–came to say this. Full Tweaker Hostile Freakout is not a pretty sight. I’ve seen this guy wandering the Farm Fresh/CVS area.

Confront him. The dog definitely needs a defender. I will not stand by and let this occur.
Thank you!
I am up there almost every day…I see him two or three times a week. Believe me I will say something. Just for those of you afraid for me…I can take care of myself 🙂
Can we tone down the calls for mob justice a tad?
#15/Rest. +: I am totally available to serve as the get-away driver. Just let me know when and where. In the meantime, I will keep an eye out for this lowlife scumbag.

Open carry people should actually make themselves useful. Animal abuse often leads to dangerous criminal behavior.
We do not want any open carry people arrested for brandishing…which is what will happen. Let those of us who are trained in non lethal tactics handle it
Sorry, I forgot to add my sarcasm emoji…though, a leg wound is hardly lethal. ; +)I’m eager to hear how the non-lethal tactics work.
He begs for $ at CVS/Farm Fresh. I gave him $2 last week. Damn..
He asked money for the bus.

Saw them outside the cvs a few days ago and the poor dog looked so sad. Crushed me.
I would have called animal control or the police that very moment and kept tabs on him until they got there. Asshole!
Maybe we should offer to buy his dog’s freedom.
So has someone taken the dog?
The photo is a dead ringer for the dog; I admit I fell for the scam as the dog is sweet and friendly……damn this is sad. I have seen the guy several times on Marshall near Blue Wheeler as well as CVS.
Seriously, with all of these witnesses, – video it – , call the Police, and see to it that the dog is REMOVED from him…
When you see it, get it on video while having someone call the cops immediately. RACC should be notified or even the SPCA that you are witnessing the abuse of an animal.
I’m not a psychiatrist. My experience with people that hurt animals, children or weaker things than themselves have usually been abused in their life. This guy sounds like he is living day to day.
Exactly right. He needs help.
So we should excuse him for poorly mistreating his dog then?
Chelsea Harnish That’s not my point. Yes, you hold him accountable and responsible for his actions. And you do that through calling the police…not getting a lynch mob together.

What do you do in this situation? https://t.co/C68WqU4Axd
I really do hate these kinds of people…..
Saw him outside of the Blue Wheeler awhile back. He was trying to pick up the dog and put it on the newspaper stand. Please take this dog away from him.
Anyone have an update on this poor dog?
We had no idea…we bought him and the dog a sandwich the other day and he was VERY kind. Thank you for this information. (as a very far off side note, tattoos on someone’s face, or anywhere, don’t make that person a “gutter punk”. no doubt, this guy is complete scum. But just because someone has made choices different than choices you’d make doesn’t automatically make them bad person…I speak from experience as a heavily tattooed person with 3 college degrees who makes a living caring for people….ok, off my soap box now :)).
UPDATE: RACC and the police are involved, we have his home address now so an animal welfare check is going to happen! Luckily he lives in a known “drug house” according to several close neighbors and shop owners, hoping that will be enough in the eyes of the law. I will still be cruising around The Market, CVS and his usual spots before and after work with a video camera and 911 on speed dial. I regret not calling 911 right then and there the night we saw him beating the $&@$ out of the poor dog, I’ll never make that kind of mistake again. The outreach of concerned folks is overwhelming, I love you all and Church Hill!! <333
BTW Heather the definition of a gutter punk is: A gutter punk is a homeless or transient individual who displays a variety of specific lifestyle traits and characteristics that often, but not always, are associated with the punk subculture.
Please keep us updated! I could potentially foster/adopt the cutie
He on East Marshall. This house also had a baby living in it and had been a hub for homeless who pay to stay by the night or week after begging near McDonald’s. The whole block had reported them to the police, the city, child protective services, etc. There are people moVing out today so here’s to hoping. The house has been foreclosed. Someone please buy it so it’s not a transit house anymore.
Someone needs to pin him down to the ground and kick the crap out of him!
Hope the sick bastard gets caught and a good loving home found for this baby.
@ Mary Louise- youve done a great job. Please, if possible- any updates on the dog’s safety when you can. I know several interested in adopting if possible

Is this him?? 🙁
Claire Anderson Cerri that’s definitely not the same dog.
NextDoor posted yesterday that he fled to NY …I was dreading he would leave if he somehow found out we were all on the look out ? so devastated!
No that is not him but being that drugs and dog fighting are commonly known to work together, it would be great if someone in that transient house knew info on the fighting.
Every time I see someone begging at CVS or The Farm Fresh I call the managers of both establishments and the police. Perhaps if more people did this rather than give these people cash that guy would not have been car jacked and shot in the head a few weeks back at the gas station.
