From Shola on Venable Street:
Please let people know to lock their houses up at night. A man just broke into my house while I was on the couch. I frightened him by moving towards him, making eye contact and talking so it wasn’t that big of a deal but it could have been. Tell CH to be safe. Thanks.

Wow. Glad you’re alright.
The guy who aggressively tries to market his lawn-cutting services on my block has a habit of pounding on my door repeatedly if I ignore him. Once he did this 3-4 times and then I heard him actually try to open the door. I usually keep the alarm armed at all times as well.
In other news , the world is no longer flat .

Uhmmm, I would keep my door locked ALL of the time, unless I happened to be sitting in the front porch or in the room immediately behind the door. Not sure why you would need it unlocked anyhow.
So glad you are safe.

I would say it was a BIG deal if it’d happened to me!
Sorry Guys!
I should have been more clear in my message to John. They guy pushed open a window in my kitchen and climbed in, not a door. All of our doors were locked and I assumed the windows were too because we never open them. Clearly I was wrong. Lock your windows! And doors ???? Peace.
Catherine. Post a no trespassing or soliciting. If he knocks again call 911!

A house I just got done building on 800 block of 24th st (not occupied yet) had every screen on 1st floor broken last night. Someone was clearly testing every single window to see if they’re open. May have been the same guy
We just had our rental on 23rd broken in to last night as well. Bashed in the kitchen window and came in through there. We were moving out, so thankfully we werent there last night.
Stay safe yall.
Any description of the guy available?
Did you call the police? I didn’t read that part.
Shola, you are not in the wrong!!! The home invader is.
This happened again this evening in Union Hill: a man coming in through a window. Check your locks, folks.
Again, any description of either of these perps? Is it the same person in both cases, or is it definitely different people?
How many of you to whom something similar has happened called the police to report an attempted (or actual) break-in? If not, why not?
Granted, the cops might not have caught your guy. But unreported crimes make the neighborhood appear safer, and mask genuine problems and threats we all face.
