A snapshot in time from Richmond City Watch

Richmond City Watch recently posted 180+ photos from an April walk through Church Hill North, Oakwood, and Chimborazo.

Ryan Ramsey’s Richmond City Watch is one of Richmond’s semisecret online treasures. The site began as a small photo gallery of Richmond photos in March 2000 on Yahoo’s Geocities (!!!!) with the initial goal of highlight existing high-rise buildings and document new high-rise construction in the city. Over the last 15 years, thousands of photos have been taken or collected to record the visual changes in downtown RVA and the adjacent neighborhoods.

Thank you for sharing John! There are a lot of photos of the neighborhod in the Gallery.

I also took a walk through the neighborhood in the summer of 2004 (just search the Gallery using the tag of “church hill”). I’ve tagged most of these photos with the address of the homes shown in this older photo set. Amazing to see what has changed since then.
