consultants dont come cheap. Why cant they do what most jobs do, create a posting, and take resumes? Or does Chimborazo ES have such a toxic reputation that no one wants to work for it?

RPS did post the job description in Jan 2015. A panel of teachers, parents and community members interviewed several people. I’m not sure of all the specifics because I’m wasn’t on the panel but the match of candidate w Chimborazo wasn’t successful. Therefore RPS has decided to hire a firm to help us find a new principal.
As a parent of Chimbo students we are excited about this process.

Here is more info:
The purpose of these meetings is to gather information to guide me and my colleague in our search for a new principal. After listening to the individuals and groups that I meet with tomorrow I will prepare a report for the superintendent that reflects what is most important/most needed in a new principal. In this report, the input from the meetings will be combined with the results of the on-line survey we encourage stakeholders to complete. There will be open meetings on July 7 at Chimborazo so that I can share this report with staff/parents/community. After these meetings, the report will be available on the school’s website. This information will also be shared with applicants, so that they understand what will be expected of them in this position.

The group meetings are guided discussions around three questions: What are the strengths of this school? (What do you want a new principal to maintain?) What are the issues/concerns that a new principal will need to address? And finally, what characteristics are most important for a successful principal at Chimborazo Elementary School?
