PROFILE: Joselyne Cruz

Michael Paul Williams profiles Jocelyn Cruz for richmond.com:

[Joselyne Cruz], 17, is no longer that quiet, wary girl from Oak Grove Elementary. Last week, the rising senior was tapped as battalion commander at Franklin — and by virtue of that designation, as Commander of Troops for all cadets in Richmond Public Schools. She is the first Hispanic to hold the post at Franklin, which opened in 1980 as the nation’s first public military school.

Beauty and a humble, quiet nature entertwined with confidence and natural leadership. Her journey is just just beginning. The kind of impressive human being we so desparately need more of.
