This is one of the best CHA newsletters I have seen. I love the direction that CHA is taking – much more involvement in the community, getting involved and giving back to the neighborhood!! Love it up here!

Would enjoy seeing a story on the tree well controversy that has been covered on CBS 6, ABC 8, and the CHPN regarding rogue plantings and fairy gardens. Maybe interviews with supporters, opponents, and a word from the city on this issue.

Gotta love the advert for the East End Theater apartments. “Available for occupancy May 2015!”. Uh check your calendar folks.

The ad on here shows June 2015 and Patrick Henry Square in August 2016.

They are running behind a bit, typical for contractors around here. They still have to put the sign and marquee on the building but have to admit, I absolutely hate the way they cut the windows into the side of the original building. A 10-year old could have done a better job…sloppy brick and mortar work. Unlike the Cold Storage buildings where they cut the windows out without disturbing the other bricks and so look like they have always been there. Take a look at them next time on the south side of the theater building from the post office direction. Ugh! I hope they paint over it.

BTW, the second picture in my article about the building at 25th and Marshall (did not get a picture reference) … is of Chandler Company Shoes and Accessories taken in the mid 1930’s. You can see the second glassed in area and door on the 25th Street side. This would be where the sofa is now in the animal hospital.

I’d like to sign up to receive this newsletter, How?

@5, you can read it here on on the CHA website, but a paper copy is distributed in many blocks. Depends on which block you live on, but if you’re not getting a paper copy and live up here, you could sign up as a block leader and distribute to others in your block (you’d also be the first to get a paper copy). Send an email to and ask him to forward it to the appropriate person for paper distribution. Go to to find it also, but it’s just as easy to see it here, since Mr. Murden posts it every month.
