March 21st is the 8th annual student-run VCU Wellness Block Party 1:00 – 5:00 PM, Armstrong High School, 2300 Cool Lane in Richmond.
This year the students are partnering with the 7th District’s Healthy U and Camp Diva’s Date with Dad weekend. There will be guests like Black Thought from the Roots and Richmond’s own Chad Coleman from The Wire and Walking Dead.
It’s going to be a fun day. 106.5 The Beat will be broadcasting live. Sports Backers is setting up a fun obstacle course, Nutzy and Rodney the Ram will be there handing out high fives. Plus, lunch will be provided. We have lots of door prizes like an iPad mini, Shaka Smart signed basketball and tickets to the Flying Squirrels.
Most importantly, there will be wellness resources from over 75 different organizations related to: family resources, health insurance, clinics, mental health, housing, nutrition, legal aid, and education.
There will also be free general health screenings, dental services, STI/HIV screenings, and pharmacists to answer any questions you have. So, bring a list of your prescriptions.
Let’s make the community smile and have a great time. Spread the word and come on out. If you want to help or have any questions please hit us up on Facebook at VCU Wellness Block Party or email us at firstname.lastname@example.org
