February newsletter from the Church Hill Association

The February 2015 newsletter from the Church Hill Association (PDF) is out on doorsteps and the usual spots around the neighborhood.

Includes: message from new CHA president Tom Wilds, a call for photos or words for the newsletter, Real Estate Market News from Jeanne Bridgforth, news from Bellevue Elementary School PTA and Chimborazo elementary school, a history of Nolde’s Bakery by Eric Huffstutler, a 2015 UCI World Road Championships preview, minutes from the last Zoning Committee and Transportation Committee meeting, info on the CHA 2015 Proposed Budget, and more.

NOTE: The next CHA meeting will be held Tuesday, February 17, 7:00 PM at the Family Resource Center (2405 Jefferson Avenue).

This cropped 1942 photo shows the 1926 plant expansion on Broad and you can just see to the right the Art Deco office expansion of 1942. The old brick 1897 building which was torn down for the last expansions in 1950, doubled the frontage on Broad and mirrored the 1926 design.

Also, there was a house attached (Nolde residence) to the left and recessed back from the street built together in 1897. You can see the porch jutting past the corner of the building in this photo.
