Anybody know what’s up with the playground at Bill Robinson Park?

Tim asks: “Anybody know why the city is currently bulldozing the playground at Bill Robinson Park?”

Seen on Facebook: “I talked with parks and recreation today while they were doing demolition. A new playground is going up in three weeks. The metal one was thirty years old. It is past time for a new one! I think Cynthia Newbille made it happen.”

Received this response today (1-12-2014):

The Parks, Recreation and Community Facilities Department is working with District Representative Newbille to replace the old playground equipment and replace it with brand new equipment. There will be a piece for 2 to 5 year olds as well as a second piece for 6 to 12 year olds. We were hoping to start the installation today, Monday, but to what extent with the weather I do not know. When the weather permits we will install the new equipment and then parks staff will add engineered wood chips and a border. We are hoping that all will be restored within a two period.
