Nellie Neptune needs a forever home

Hello! My name is Nellie Neptune and I am searching for my forever home.

I was first rescued as a puppy in the countryside. A local music band on tour found me in the woods of Powhatan County curled up by a tree.

They gave me to a home that had a dog and I thought I was set for life but a few short years later, the people I was living with were forced to move from their home and could no longer care for me. I was somewhat neglected spending many (12-24) hours daily in a crate without padding or a regular routine.

After the last month with my transition family, I now have a routine including walks, time with toys, sunning myself outside and playing with the humans and my 2 Doberman housemates.

I am a stunning runner and jumper!! I dream of a yard with a high fence so I can run and play and not be tempted by the critters roaming outside and up the trees!

I love walks.

I am about 3 years old, 33 pounds and healthy – spayed, chipped and up to date on vaccines and preventive meds (flea/tick/heartworm). I am dog friendly and people friendly (we think children included!). I just found out from a DNA test that one of my parents was 1?2 Rhodesian Ridgeback and 1?2 Russell Terrier while my other parent was mixed breed with some interesting input (maybe some Spanish Water Dog and Bernese Mountain Dog!).

What the DNA test doesn’t tell you is that in addition to my alert nature, I love to entertain, lick, snuggle under blankets and cuddle up with my humans. If you adopt me I promise to be a diligent lookout for the family and I will supply everyone with a lifetime of kisses and love. All your friends will say your new doggy is awesome – Because I am – and I just need You!
