The grande dame of Union Hill

In a follow-up to a July article, richmond.com ran a piece yesterday on the renovation of Matt and Alicia Conrad’s new home at 2002 Princess Anne Avenue:

The Conrads see the renovation as “an investment in the community we love and that we want to be part of for a very long time,” Conrad said. And they’re especially happy to be moving in while the weather is still warm.

“Even before we discussed appliances, we were shopping for a front porch swing,” Conrad said.

John, thank you for posting this. Ann has it right: Union Hill is fortunate to have some of the most interesting and diverse historic housing stock in the city, if not the country. We are honored to live in just one of the many homes that help to tell our neighborhood’s unique architectural and cultural history.

Thank you to everyone for your kind words and encouragement. Alicia and I look forward to welcoming our many East End friends to our home and to returning the hospitality they’ve shown us for the past 9 years.
