History Harvest for Made in Church Hill

All are invited to attend the History Harvest to help develop the exhibition Made in Church Hill which will open at the Valentine Museum on January 22, 2015.

Come out to East District Family Resource Center (2405 Jefferson Ave) on October 4, from 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM. Bring your Church Hill memories and thoughts about the past, present and future of the neighborhood, as well as a special object that reminds you of Church Hill.

You will be interviewed for approximately 30 minutes and your photographic portrait will be taken. Students from University of Richmond, Virginia Commonwealth University, and Church Hill Activities & Tutoring (CHAT), will be handling the interview and photography process.

Cyclocross at Chimborazo Park

The Richmond Festival of Cross is two days of cyclocross racing held in early October and is part of the VACX Series of races. The fun begins on Saturday, October 4 with the vertical challenges and varied topography of Chimborazo Park, and follows the next day at Joseph Bryan Park.

Hogtober

Hill Yeah! It’s HOGTOBER time, Saturday, October 4 from noon to sunset. The Church Hill Association and Style Weekly bring barbecue, bands and beers back to historic Church Hill. This annual fall festival is full of flavor and fun for the whole family.

Don’t miss the season’s first party on the hill. FREE to attend, appropriate for all ages, and better shared with friends. No pets and no coolers but go ahead and bring lawn chairs and blankets if you like. Libby Hill Park is located at 2800 E. Franklin Street in Historic Church Hill.

bike races at Chimborazo and HOGTOBERFEST seem to both be going on at the same time. It will be a tough weekend for parking on the hill.

@freda3200 Amen. I can’t even begin to count the number of causes that would be more appropriately represented by a “freedom walk” (and much more contributory to the wellbeing of our community). Open carry seems like a misuse of the term. “Implicit violence walk” is more fitting.

The more folks shot – the less traffic on the Hill and then we can park our cars in front of our houses.
