CHAT, Blue Sky Fund take top spots in Amazing Raise

Church Hill Activities and Tutoring (CHAT) again cleaned up in the Amazing Raise 36-hour fundraiser, taking the over-all top spot with over 1,000 people pledging more than $70,000. It looks like the organization will have garnered over $145,000 by the time that it is all added up:

Over 1000 individuals gave in the past 36 hours of The Amazing Raise. While we’re still waiting on final numbers, we know that CHAT raised more than $70,000 through donations, an additional $60,000 in matching donations, and over $15,000 in first place Amazing Raise prize money and other prize money. That’s over $145,000!

Blue Sky Fund topped the Small Organization category with $24,051 in donations from 430 donors. Other neighborhood groups also did well: Peter Paul Development Center pulled in $10,450 in donations, ChildSavers was pledged $7,725, and Better Housing Coalition was given $6,775.

The fundraiser pulled in over 20,000 donations and $1.7 million (including incentive prizes) for 500 local charities this year, after generating 18,000 individual gifts and $1.5 million in 2013. CHAT took the top spot in the Amazing Raise in 2011, came in 2nd in 2012, and was again atop the leaderboard in 2013.

Almost 600 organizations entered the contest statewide this year, with over 400 in the Richmond region.

Grand prize for the Small Organization is determined by number of unique donations of $50 or more, which means they ended up taking first place… an extra $15,000 prize!
