Wildcats Football fundraiser game set for August 22

While the Armstrong Wildcats 2014 football season doesn’t kick off until September 5, there will be a pre-season benefit game on August 22 (7PM) against the Manassas Park High School Cougars to raise money to buy equipment for the team.

Successful community-organized fundraising has helped rival Thomas Jefferson HS get new equipment, beautify the school, and arrange food the players during practices.

Armstrong has 3 games with teams ranked in the pre-season top 50 in the state: Varina (#19), Atlee (#21), Highland Springs (#39). The Wildcats begin the year ranked at #223 in Virginia (of 306).

Through the Wildcats have 5 home games this season, other city schools will play a majority of their games on the road. According to the VHSL master schedule, TJ, Marshall, and Huguenot will only have 3 home games, while George Wythe only has 2 home games – with each school playing a full 10 game schedule.
