🙁 Why is the city just purging houses? Will there be anything left outside of a historic district or do we need city-wide historic districts? I remember going to this house years ago…

In you go up the alphabet (Q St, R St, Etc.) there are areas (Oakwood? Woodville? I don’t know these neighborhoods as well) where there are massive chunks missing from city blocks – nothing left but the front stoop, usually.

The houses that are standing are usually quite distinctive, but are more vernacular/working class type architecture – lots of one story, Victorian bungalow type houses.

To me, the message the city is sending is pretty straightforward – “we care about history, of course; but not the history of poor, immigrant, black, or working class people”. Frankly, it’s disgraceful.

If I’m not mistaken, this house is very recently listed on Craig’s List as a rental property.

Lee, you are right. The city does not care about the history or architecture of its working class neighborhoods and housing.

What a big, beautiful home. I really like the color scheme.
