Cheap Eats visits Proper Pie

The RTD’s Cheap Eats puts the spotlight on Proper Pie this week:

The taste starts with the crust of the savory meat and vegetable pies, which are a New Zealand derivative of British meat pies. The crust is flaky and buttery. Everyone knows that butter makes things better.

The sturdy crust is a must to hold the hot filling inside. My favorite filling is pork and chili verde, though on recent visits I’ve really enjoyed the chicken and kumara pie (kumara is a type of sweet potato), and the steak, cheese and tomato pie.
