Update from Chimborazo ES

Trip to VUU
Mr. Corey Gibson (4th grade teacher) organized a Saturday trip to VA Union Univ. for 20 4th and 5th graders. The students spent the day in sessions including one on the expectations and benefits of attending college. Mr. Gibson a VUU grad and noted “Mr. VUU” enjoyed the day with students that ended in the football L. M. Brown Classic.

Jaguar Facts
Chimborazo has 450 students in grades PK-5. It started in 1905 in what is now the Lava Loft building. In 1952 it moved to its current Location. Principal Cheryl Burke has been at the helm for the past 15 years and has brought many resources to Chimborazo during her time there including IB PYP.

First Lady’s Luncheon
Twenty eight of our students, 8 parents and Principal Burke attendedThe Inaugural First Lady’s Luncheon. The Luncheon took place at the Science Museum of Va. Sunday, January 13. Mrs. Dorothy McAuliffe shared her vision of healthy nutrition  for children that included demonstrations and a sit down four course meal. Our children were treated as royalty and were so elated to participate in such as festive, informative and personal event.
