Anyone else see a bit of Sam Shepherd there?

If I’m reading the boundaries right, it sounds like he can still go to Blue Wheeler if he wants to deal? That corner is claimed already unless Newt’s back in jail but maybe Urban Farmhouse also needs a skeezy dealer out front too?

That’s good news. Thanks, RPD.

Can we vote to ban other people? Perhaps send them out into the wasteland wearing a big plastic head like in THUNDERDOME?

Newt has been released from jail and is once again available in front of the BW, located at E Marshall and N 32nd.

Monique, I tried to read what you wrote, because I could tell you were passionate about it. But it was totally unintelligible. WTF are you talking about?

I cant believe that peoplemove into a neighborhood and think they can ban others from it when the neighborhood does not belong to you!!!! My family were driven out of fulton and have lived in Churchill every since. My father was born on 33rd and leigh 65 years ago. Newt’s family are long time residence as well. Quite naturally, people do drugs, sell drugs and they pay the price for it. Newt wasn’t a drug dealer until the new neighbors made him one!!! I’ve been in marshall street store and have seen these people asking for drugs, and when the meth house blew up no one reported that on your news..as far as the mini mall, that use to be a daycare and then an arcade/store/laundry/restaurant…im sure the paper food stamps helped get them to where they are today!! I will advise Newt to sue you for using his name to justify banning folks from Churchill!!! Ignorant mofo’s!!!!!

believe this..we know who you are, the people who try to act all innocent and are trying to get him to purchase drugs for you. funny though true, black people don’t like snitching. he should tell RPD, where you live the next time he gets arrested and send them to your house, buy your drugs from the police instead of trying to set someone up who JUST has a problem,,,,assholes!!!!

I say good job RPD! I do hate for Mr. Elvie Cagle to be some other neighborhood’s problem but glad he is no longer around CH. Let’s send some other losers to join him.

2014 quote: “Newt wasn’t a drug dealer until the new neighbors made him one!!!”?
1953 quote: in a radio sermon in Atlanta, GA, Martin Luther King Jr. said “One of the most common tendencies of human nature is that of placing responsibility on some external agency for sins we have committed or mistakes we have made. We are forever attempting to find some scapegoat on which we cast responsibility for our actions.”

@13 – the truth is a defense against any sort of lawsuit for saying stuff. You as much as admitted that Newt’s dealing. Given that he’s got a rap sheet on top of that, there’s not much to be suing for.

If he wants folks to stop talking about it he just needs to stop running his business out front of Blue Wheeler.

@18 Alex

You need not worry, I don’t think the gentleman in question will be contracting the services of Hayden Fisher to sue you. I think the previous posters were alluding to “street justice.” BTW, “the truth defense” doesn’t work well on the streets, just sayin’…

If you feel the urge to “drop a dime” on somebody, dial up Lt. Dan, not CHPN. As you can see, the Internet casts a worldwide web. (try not to get caught up in it)

This seems unconstitutional. Why not ban all felons from the East End while we’re at it?

Monique: “for those who like to put ppl names on this blog or for hangin on blue wheeler this is our hood sorry that ur scared of black ppl that’s nt our problem !”

I don’t think race is the issue here. I think the issue is drug dealing, and related stupidity. I don’t think Church Hill – or any neighborhood, generally – belongs to anyone anymore than anyone else.

@21 – believe me, we started with RPD first. They’ve been notified dozens of times. They occasionally can get him off the streets for a bit but haven’t really been able to stop him from selling for good.

I got the street justice allusions but also saw some nonsense in there about “I will advise Newt to sue you for using his name to justify banning folks from Churchill.” Just wanted to point out that if he’s doing it, he’d be wasting his time.

@22 – much as I’d love to see what you’re proposing, I agree it does seem odd. Anyone know how this is allowed?

WHat race is newt anyway? I didnt see anyone post whether or not he was black, white, a new resident or an old one. So, a lot of assumptions were made.

Funny, a drug dealer named after Newt Gingrich

I’m also curious about the references to a meth house. Anyone know what the story was there? I didn’t realize that was a big thing around here.

Gordo 01/30/2014 at 11:50 AM

oh, if Newt complains, well he can just consider this blog free advertising. Now we all know where to go to score.

@ 25: I’ve seen local judges ban shoplifters or drug dealers based on the landlord’s instructions that the convicted would be trespassing if he or she returned (for example, a judge will say: “you are henceforth banned from all the Targets in all the world”…..a personal nightmare of mine), but I haven’t heard of entire neighborhood prohibitions. The landlord bans were recently (within the last 5 years) upheld by the Virginia Court of Appeals. But neighborhood bans – it seems difficult to enforce, despite the specific street bounds provided. I’m intrigued.

Yes, who is Newt? If he is a drug dealer, I’d like to get him banned from the Blue Wheeler’s corner. Didn’t know we could do that.

I’m not familiar about this NEWT, but if he’s doing these things then he must pay the price. No one is forcing him to buy drugs and when he does buy/sell drugs then that was his choice. I love this area, but people have no sense. I see people just walk pass a trash can from the blue wheeler just to throw trash on the ground. I see people urinating in alleyways because they’re too lazy to go inside their own home blocks away. Take care of your area! Don’t be an idiot! I’ll call you out in a heartbeat. Have no problems with that. Most people I call out are usually very polite about the matter or they’ll just ignore me.
