Volunteer at HandsOn Day!

Registration is still open for the 6th Annual HandsOn Day this coming Saturday, October 19, 2013: “1 Day. 1000 Volunteers. People at the Center of Change.”

Imagine how much better Richmond could be if we all spent just 4 hours doing something together for the community. Join a thousand other volunteers across the metro region this October to make a difference in Richmond on one of many organized volunteer opportunities.

There are a number of volunteer opportunities in the area:

  • Makin’ Mason Pretty: George Mason Elementary – Touch up, seal, and protect murals, Mulch landscape, Build compost bin, Assist with establishing signage for recycling program, Assist with other teacher tasks
  • Great Shiplock Park Clean Up – paint parking space lines, paint no-parking zones along curbs, help improve parking accessibility, spread mulch to designate pathways and ensure accessibility to parking spaces, paint wall spaces, other beautification work like cleaning, trash and invasive species removal
  • Bedazzle Bathrooms: Bellevue Elementary – stencil and plan designs on wall, prep and paint, prepare materials for teachers
  • Improving Homes and Lives – scrap, prep and paint exterior window trim, build and install wood exterior railing on porch, potentially garden, trim hedges and overgrowth
