2013 Golden Hammer nominees announced

The nominees for the Better Housing Coalition’s 2013 Golden Hammer awards have been announced. This year there are 12 nominees in the 4 categories of residential renovation, commercial renovation (small), commercial renovation (large), and infill construction.

The folks at Better Housing Coalition are looking forward to recognizing the nominees and winners on October 17 at the Hotel John Marshall with a Hollywood-style, red carpet affair and after-party featuring dinner and live music:

Groundbreakers, the Better Housing Coalition’s annual signature event, takes place the evening of Thursday, October 17, 2013 at the Hotel John Marshall. This red-carpet affair celebrates excellence in neighborhood revitalization and historic preservation in Central Virginia. All proceeds from the event support BHC’s mission of changing lives and transforming communities through high-quality, affordable housing.

Tickets are $100 each and are available at betterhousingcoalition.org/groundbreakers.

Random reactions –

Is the Monument Avenue nominee the vinyl windows house? It looks like it and it would be hilarious for them to pick that one.

If the taqueria wins it’s got to be hands down the “most masturbated in” hammer winner ever right? Turning a spank parlor into a food joint is some kind of miracle.

Good set overall. The Marshall Street house is one of my favorites.

Alex – the Monument Ave vinyl window house is this one, across the street. YOu can see the apartment building that has been nominated in the background.

When do they announce the MC Hammer awards? (You can’t touch this…)

No, the entry at 3000 Monument Avenue is NOT the ” vinyl windows house”.
