At 3:48 a.m., emergency dispatch received a call about gunfire. Officers arrived within minutes and found the body of a middle-aged black male lying in the street at the intersection of 22nd and W Streets. He had been shot several times.

Robbery is the apparent motive at this time. Detectives are looking for a black, four-door sedan – possibly a Nissan Maxima – that was spotted leaving the scene shortly after the shooting.

This is the 6th killing in the East End so far in 2013, and the 17th in Richmond. Three of the East End’s homicides have been cleared, and nine of Richmond’s.

Anyone with any information about this incident is asked to Crime Stoppers at 780-1000. Citizens may also text Crime Stoppers at 274637, using the key word “ITip” followed by your tip. Both Crime Stoppers methods are anonymous.
