A Richmond Police spokesperson said a person was shot walking across a bridge in the 1000 block of Mosby Street near Martin Luther King Jr. Middle School.
CBS 6 News’ Sandra Jones reported that the shooting victim asked a bus driver for help.
As a result, the school was placed on lockdown, according to Richmond Public Schools’ Felicia Cosby.

The Richmond Police Department is looking for two persons of interest in a shooting this afternoon on the Martin Luther King Bridge.
Around 2 p.m. a middle-aged male was shot by an unidentified male who was with a female. The victim has life-threatening injuries. No motive for the shooting is known at this time.
The first person of interest is a black male in his early twenties, about 5 feet 6 inches to 5 feet 7 inches tall, weighing between 150 and 165 pounds with a light complexion and facial hair. He was last seen wearing a black hoodie, a white T-shirt and a black baseball cap with a white/black emblem displayed on the front.
The second person of interest is a black female in her twenties, about 5 feet 3 inches to 5 feet 4inches tall, weighing between 150 and 160 pounds with a medium to dark complexion. She has long hair in box braids and was last seen wearing a purple hoodie, blue jeans and blue tennis shoes.

Instead of renovating this school in its present location, we need to build a new middle school in another safer location.
An arrest has been made in the shooting of a man on the Martin Luther King Bridge last week.
At approximately 2 p.m. on Thursday, April 26, a 45-year-old man called police after he was shot.
At approximately 2 p.m. today, the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force arrested Thomas L. Gilmore, 19, of the 500 block of North 19th Street, and charged him with malicious wounding and use of a firearm during the commission of a felony in connection with this crime.
Detectives would like to thank members of the community who stepped forward to help with this investigation, which enabled detectives to quickly obtain warrants for Gilmore.
