We found a tiger-striped, young pitt mix this morning at around 10:30 at the corner of Marshall and 31st. He was chasing a jogger. He seems friendly and energetic and is wearing a color with no tags and has a purple knotted leash. See photo. Please call Ben at 804-938-3236 or Amy at 804-267-0363.

Additional details – he’s intact and probably about 6 months old. We decided that he will be staying at Ben’s for the moment, since his dogs will probably tolerate stripy-dog better than mine.

if no one claims it i would love to take it off your hands! he is adorable!
The dog is going to Richmond Animal Control’s no-kill shelter. (http://www.richmondgov.com/AnimalControl/index.aspx) They have a 12 day holding policy to give his owners a chance to claim him and then he will be adoptable (@Sarah C).
Additionally, Ben reports that he was fine with other dogs, but is not house-broken and does not seem to know any commands. He spent the night in a large crate and seems to have taken to it, but is definitely not crate-trained.
I hope he ends up with a loving family!
One more update: Ben and his wife dropped the dog off at Animal Control and the dog was given and ID #: 28131. Additionally, since he didn’t have a collar (just a leash), the holding period is only 6 days!
Wow, Richmond Animal Control has a no-kill shelter now? That’s great news.
