Jazz coming to 25th Street

Deandre Johnson’s O.M.G.Cafe is working on expanding into the attached space next door to create another environment called Jazz. The new extended space will serve the same menu as O.M.G. and will feature live music Thursday-Saturday. Johnson aims to have Jazz open on the 1st Saturday in December.

In related news, the opening date for Johnson’s Southern Comfort on Jefferson Avenue has been bumped back to January as the build-out of the space is ongoing.

Deandre is going to own the whole hill at the rate he’s going… and that wouldn’t be a bad thing! Good to have as many thriving businesses as possible.

So exciting! I feel like the last few years have been really good for Church Hill. So many restaurants and other establishments have opened; it makes me eager to hear what’s next. Church Hill, and Richmond for that matter, are definitely on the cusp of something great.

I could have sworn that at one point the owner said he was going to open up a vegetarian restaurant next door. Whatever happened with that?

Yesterday, there was a sign at the door: “Closed because of unpaid rent.”
