St. John’s Church will be hosting two holiday decorations workshops, led by Richmond’s own wildly creative DAVID PIPPIN, Floral Designer. “Fresh * Festive * Fun CHRISTMAS DESIGNS”, will take place on Friday, December 9, from 10 am to 12 Noon and will be a lecture/demonstration. David will teach participants how to create dazzling designs to decorate their homes for the holidays, using Nature’s bounty from the garden interspersed with flowers.

Some lucky participants will have the opportunity to take home one of his designs! The cost is $30 per person.

“Christmas Centerpiece Workshop”, will take place on Saturday, December 10, from 10 am to 12 Noon and is for children ages 5-12. David is a frequent Visiting Teacher in local schools, teaching children about plants and where their food comes from (and it’s not just the grocery store). Each child will create a holiday centerpiece to take home and must be accompanied by an adult. The cost is $10 per child.

David was born and raised in Louisa County, Virginia and graduated from Virginia Tech in 1983 with a B.S. degree in Agricultural Education. He founded his own company, David Pippin, Inc., in 2000 through which he shares his love for horticulture and education by giving lectures and workshops, creating floral designs and advising clients about their landscapes. His floral designs have graced many weddings, special events, the Governor’s Mansion and are frequently visible at the VMFA and Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden.

STYLE magazine has described David Pippin as having “an elegant and impossibly unreasonable fashion sense…He has fun with flowers…he’s not embarrassed to admit – or share his skill with others.” Plan to join the fun and be inspired to make your own fabulous decorations for Christmas, or plan to bring your children or grandchildren and watch them create a glorious centerpiece to take home!
