The small commercial building at 2211 East Marshall Street has recently had some of its late-20th century skinning removed to revealed a circa 1940s painted sign for $.05 Cokes and the Church Hill Shoe Service. Curious, I had to go dig through the Hill Directories to find out more about this…

1921 used by F.D. Savage, a machinist who lived at 2214 East Broad Street
1922 Viaduct Motor Company
1924 J.W.Wiseman – storage for auto accessories business at 2209 East Marshall
1925 Wiseman and Dickenson
1931-1934 VACANT
1934-1943 operated as a restaurant by Samual A. Spraggins, who lived at 600 A Mosby Street
1946 used by Hubert F. Phillips for shoe repair
1950-1976 Grove’s Barbershop
