Historic Richmond Foundation has partnered with over 50 local artists in an effort to raise awareness of this unique view and its importance to our history. We hope to preserve the view which has remained virtually unchanged for over 275 years, through the artists’ creative vision. The art, including sculpture, mosaic, collage and paintings, will be on display and auctioned at the River View Party, part of a series of events to celebrate our view.

Okay. I guess I’ll go first here and ask why the “change” to BUSINESS attire?
I might be mistaken, but isn’t this taking place in a public park? Will I be kicked out for showing up with sneakers and a tee shirt?
I’m asking this seriously.
Is the event set up in the public park outside?
Erik #1, I’m guessing here, but the original invitation said ‘cocktail attire.’ However, it starts pretty early (5:30 p.m.). Maybe they got questions from people who are coming straight from work and don’t have time to change into ‘cocktail attire’…
If you have RSVP’d, I can’t imagine they will ask you to leave in sneakers but you might feel more comfortable with something else on….IMHO.
#2, they had a big tent that spanned Libby Terrace from north to south and pretty much one entire block, just east of the monument. The art for the silent auction was inside the tent, as were several bars, food stations and a jazz combo. Chairs and tables were in the park or on the sidewalks. Mark Holmberg was there in jeans but most of the guests were in business attire – suits, etc.
I think you’re missing the point, with the discussion about what you could wear and tables in the park. The importance of the event was to celebrate and preserve the view from Libby Hill Park.
