As always, great pictures John.
It’s hard to label these, but some are user contributed. If anyone has a photo to add, send it to firstname.lastname@example.org.
I’ve got a chainsaw and am willing to help, for free, if anyone needs to cut up downed trees. My email is email@example.com

A reader asks: “Any word on what we should do with our debris? pile it up with the trash?”
After Irene whipped us around, my wife and I visited The Hill Cafe for Sunday brunch. It was sooo tasty and provided fuel for the cleanup effort that followed.
It took me three hours to clean up the mess around my house. At least there are less leaves to clean up during fall.
Does anyone know of a good roofer? Irene showed me many leaks I was not aware of….
Jamie Ryland – 2207 East Marshall St., phone 648-4525. So good he is constantly in demand but keep calling. I saw him around yesterday responsing to calls. He specializes in metal roofing, old roofs, etc. and has been around up here for years.
Another roofer, not quite as great as Jamie, but perfectly decent, is Harper. Listed as RW Harper and Son, 233-6550 but they answer the phone Harper Roofing.
Kim, grew up next door to Noal. He does all of my roof work on my hill house. W J Clark & Sons

#5 either put with your super cans, or stack on the sidewalk but not in the curb or on the street as that could create problems if we have any more rain. That is per a recent email from the Church Hill Association. Apparently the city plans to come around several times a week to collect storm debris.
Can we go ahead and make repairs or do we have to go through the CAR process?
#12 Sandie, if you are replacing like materials and design with like, then no you don’t need to go through CAR. You do need building permits depending on what you are doing (structural repairs need a permit) – I would check with the city. If they tell you that you need a certificate of appropriateness from CAR, and you are simply replacing EXACTLY what you had with the exact same thing, tell them you know better – or just call CAR and explain to the staff and they should back you up.
Excellent Roofer: Mike Peregoy, United Roofing & Construction – 804-334-3233
Did an excellent new tin roof and TPO roof for me. Highly qualified and affordable.
I’ve been adding images to the gallery above as they’ve come in. Got any photos to share?
