You need a kitten

I have been feeding a stray cat who we tried to catch and get fixed. Unfortunately, we were unsuccessful and she got pregnant. She had kittens 6 weeks ago, am and now seeking a home for the mother, a small all black cat who is very affectionate and one of the kittens, a female tortie. The other kittens already have homes.

Both are litter box trained and the kitten is eating solid food (wet and dry). The mother has an appointment to be fixed on Thursday, has just received a flea treatment, and is about one year old. The kitten is six weeks old.

I am hoping to fine them an loving, Church Hill home! If anyone is interested they can reach me by phone 804.928.8344 or email at crystalannlloyd@gmail.com. Thanks so much!

All Bark #2, she has an appointment to get her fixed on Thursday, it’s in the story.

I might know someone who wants one or both, will check into it tonight.

Because she’s been in the house for the last six weeks immediately before birth, she literally just walked in after many months trying to catch her.

Crystal, actually I think I might know two people who want a cat or kitten. Will get back to you or have them do so themselves. Thanks for taking her in, she looks sweet and I think black cats are especially friendly and the kitten looks like a fun kitten.

Well, I hope you got the kittens fixed before sending them out at least.
Also, for next time, there is such a thing as gravid spay.

Thanks for comments, this will be the fifth cat that we have gotten fixed and (hopefully soon) find a home for. And yes, the kittens will be fixed.

Awesome! that’s what I like to hear! It’s just so sad that we euthanize 6 million dogs and cats each year and just a half an hour away in New Kent, every Wednesday is a kill day.
Please folks, if you have the room to foster do so and if you’re getting a new pet, go to a shelter. And everyone, please please spay and neuter.
There are a lot of great resources and cheap options, so don’t let the money thing stop any one of you!

Church Hill Animal Hospital 804-644-8200 http://www.churchhillanimalhospital.com
Not sure about pricing, but it’s in the neighborhood!
According to the website, there is a focus on preventing pet overpopulation. Not a non-profit so they have bills to pay and have to make the money to do that so, again, check on pricing.

Prevent-a-Litter in Carytown 804-359-6369 http://www.preventalitter.org A non-profit organization that does low cost preventative care too!
Cat neuters are $25 and spays are $35, dogs vary by weight check out the website, it has lots of details and info.

Richmond SPCA 804-643-6785 http://richmondspca.org/ Another non-profit, low cost preventative care and low cost, sliding scale spays and neuters, cat neuters $30 spays $40, dogs by weight. And feral cats for free!

Operation Catnip-http://members.petfinder.com/~NPM26/
a service only for feral cats, loans traps and practices TNR in the area, check the website for clinic dates. Its staffed by volunteers, so its important to know clinic dates.
I hope this info can help, you may not think you need it now, but any one of us could be in Crystal’s position tomorrow or next week and it’s good to know the options!

All Bark – good work on spay/neuter info! i emailed her today and offered to ask if Dr. Jack would help out with the spay/neuter and trapping the mother cat. Haven’t heard back from anyone yet but hope I can do something to help stop that cat from getting knocked up AND to go full term.
