A message from the folks at Tricycle Gardens:

Thanks to donations around our fund-raiser party in June, we have been able to build 10 new garden plots at the Chimborazo Community Garden! Some of them are still available. If you are interested in one for 2011 (but starting this fall), email There is a requirement of organic approach, some volunteer time per year, and a $50 per year lease fee, but if that fee is a hardship for your household it will be waived.

The Chimborazo Community Garden works with people who can not afford to pay the $50 annual rent, and has an anonymous benefactor who will donate $50 worth of seedlings and seeds to those who would like a plot but need some help getting started.

We are trying to finish the garden over the next few weeks. Please call 804-231-7767 or email for info. Come on out this Sunday, August 8th, 9am-noon to lend a hand or just say hello!

And a big thanks to the community for supporting this project, to the Church Hill Association for donating $400 towards the Children’s Garden Plots, and the City of Richmond for installing water.
