The Richmond Times-Dispatch is honoring philanthropist (and former Church Hill resident) Thomas Cannon:
Cannon died in 2005 at age 79, but he left behind a legacy of giving. […] Cannon’s salary as a postal worker never topped $30,000, but the World War II Navy veteran and his wife believed in living simply so they could give money away. His first donation when he was 47 went to a woman’s club for its work at an elementary school. He usually gave gifts of $1,000 at a time to people of all races, ages, nationalities and incomes. Overall, he gave more than $156,000.
The exhibition is in the lobby of the Richmond Times-Dispatch building at 300 East Franklin Street and will be up through January. Mon-Fri 8AM-6PM FREE.
