National Clean-The-Brick Walkway Day is THIS SATURDAY

Friends of Libby Hill Park and the Planters of Church Hill will be celebrating National Clean-the-Brick Walkway Day at Libby Hill Park this Saturday, October 24 from 10AM-noon.

Yes. It’s the brick walk next to Poe’s. And we need your help to remove the dead grass and weeds in the cracks of the bricks. If you have a weedeater, please bring it. A flat shovel would also work. Fingers are fine, too, along with chops from karate practitioners.

To help us move along, the Planters and Friends of Libby Hill Park will have coffee, ham biscuits, and muffins. The ham biscuits are from Ms. Betty Moore’s secret recipe.

And, best of all, after completion we will have a safe walk down and back to the top.

Contact Alli Alligood at (804)782-1170 for more info.

I’ve been on the City to cut the grass in Libby Hill Park for several months-well actually since May 11th. It looks like they finally got around to it over the last few weeks.

They also sprayed the cobblestones for weeds.

I think that makes two cuttings of the lower slopes in one season? Excellent maintenance of a heavily used park. We can only hope any new parks we may develop get this type of care.
