Recent work by Thomas Van Auken opens Friday, June 12, 2009, 7-9PM at the Eric Schindler Gallery.
Very cool, creepy image. Is Van Auken a local here?
Yes he is local and has been exhibiting at the Eric Schindler since 1994. He is known for his figures and nudes and still lifes but over the past 5 years or so he has been venturing outside at night painting landscapses. Many of the ones featured in this show are of the old suburbs around Hull St. He is one of Richmond’s great painters. I know I have been collecting his work myself since 1994.
Tommy Van Auken is a splendid artist…unbelievable talent.
It’s true, CHPN, Tommy is a terrific artist. I encourage you to come to the opening if you can!
Style Weekly has a nice piece this week about Van Auken and his work.
Re #5: YAY Tommy!
But that pic doesn’t look like him at all. I mean, am I being blind or something? Is that even Tommy?
