From the Local Matters section of the Dec.3, 1860 issue of the Richmond Daily Dispatch:

At an early hour last Friday night, a female infant, aged about six weeks, was deposited at the door of a resident of Church Hill, where it was shortly after discovered and sent to the first station-house.–As no trace of its heartless mother could be discovered, the little creature was taken care of till Saturday morning, when Mr. Lewis McGruder, the housekeeper, took it to his house till other arrangements could be made for it. If any of our lady readers wish to adopt as their own a pretty little girl, they had better call and get this one.
