The Richmond Free Press observes the passing of religious leader Rosella M. Wooldridge:
Rosella Murray Wooldridge followed an unusual path as a religious leader in the Richmond area. At age 21, she founded the Church of God Tabernacle of Christ on Church Hill where she served as pastor. After 20 years as a Christian minister, she made a big switch. She converted herself and her children to Judaism and turned her church building near 28th and M streets into a synagogue called Temple Beth Shean.

I think today, in our media-infused age, it’s easy to over look a body of work like hers. 50 years ago few people had the benefit of such an open mind. It’s amazing…we should all look to our older generation and wonder what they know that Google doesn’t
Being the oldest granddaughter of Dr. Wooldridge. I don’t remember the churches she started in Church Hill I wasn’t born then but I do remember the words she preached to her congregation and the words she preached to me. I MISS YOU GRANNY!
