This Thursday marks the celebration and opening rally of “Metropolitan Richmond at Prayer,” an areawide union of souls that has been more than a year in the making. The 10 a.m. ceremony will be staged at Richmond Hill.
From the article:
Every week for the next year, several hundred Christian churches of all denominations and races throughout the area will be praying about the same specific problem or issue in order to improve the health of the metro area.
The weekly prayers will zero in on issues such as regional cooperation, violence, root causes of crime, poverty, the breakdown of families, racial reconciliation, government and political leaders, nonprofit organizations, police, courts and workplaces.
“Often when we pray, it changes us. We get clearer about God’s love for humankind and his desires for us,” Campbell said.
