The long boarded up commercial space at Leigh and 25th Streets temporarily sported some witty and insightful graffiti. Someone put a voice balloon on the plywood window with the simple statement “I’d prefer to be a bookstore.” UPDATED PHOTO
Unfortunately, by the time I managed to return with a camera, the addition had been removed.

There’s an “I want to be a restaurant” thought bubble on the boarded-up building at the corner of 22nd & Clay.
Anne — thanks for the pointer. I managed to get a photo of that one!
The old East End movie theater at 25th and Clay would prefer to be a movie theater.
Someone has posted “Please be one” next to the speech bubble on the movie theater and “Why don’t you?” next to the one on Nebe’s Inn.
