Via Craigslist: Is this your cat? It’s been wandering around between Fairmount and R street, around the 2300 block. It seems lost, it’s very friendly and hungry. We already have cats, so we can’t keep it here, but reply if it’s yours, maybe I can hold it for you the next time it comes around?

Robberies on Fairfield, 20th, R Street

The Richmond Police Department’s Noteworthy Events details 3 different robberies over the past 3 days, only 2 of which happened late at night in areas that most people wouldn’t be walking if given a choice.

Possible hostage situation ends peacefully

What police thought was a possible hostage situation on the 2300 block of R Street ended quietly after a tense 30 minutes or so. One version of what happened has a domestic dispute over a woman escalating to the point where one man went for his shot gun.

Daylight shootout on R Street

Police are looking for a white van and a blue car involved in a shootout on R Street a few minutes ago. The two vehicles exchanged at least 5 shots between 21st and 22nd Streets. No one outside of the vehicles was inured, though a house was struck by a stray bullet.

A man fleeing a traffic stop wrecked into a pole at 25th and Fairmount, fled the scene of the accident, and was caught by officers shortly thereafter in the 2300 block of R Street.

rooming house burns at 23rd and R Streets

On one of the first cold nights of this season, a fire burned a rooming house at 1118 N 23rd Street. The fire appears to have started in the basement and everyone seems to have gotten out ok. [ photos inside ]
