Perhaps a Bojangles’ or a Popeyes instead

Although plans for the site were unveiled in May and the big sign still says COMING SOON FALL 2009, the new FOR RENT signs on the former KFC on Mosby Street appear to indicate that the project has taken a turn for the worse. Anybody got any info on this?

Shooting on Mosby Street (UPDATED)

As as-yet-unidentified 36-year-old man is in critical condition at MCV after being shot in the chest just before 6PM on the 1000 block of Mosby Street. Police hypothosize it was a retaliation shooting, but do not have much more to say at this point.

Benjamin Mosby not John Mosby

Mosby Street, the Mosby Public Housing Developments, and the former Mosby Middle School were all named for Benjamin Mosby, a realtor who developed the area early in the nineteenth century. Part of this area became known as Union Hill and part as Howard’s Grove.

Big plans or just a big sign?

It looks like someone has new plans for the former KFC on Mosby for which Bishop Richard Hall had such grand ideas and which was later auctioned off.

Higher Ground still vacant, Sandra’s is gone

Bishop Richard Hall announced a plan in March to convert the Higher Ground Tabernacle into a coffee shop. It now looks like the property is up for auction… We’ve also heard that Sandra’s Home Cooked on 29th Street has moved out.
