The Citizen (1960s)

In following up at the Library of Virginia on a recent find , I was fortunate to receive a roll of microfiche containing a number of 20th century Richmond newspapers. Included were a number of precursors to our current crop of community blogs, including the mid-1960s The Citizen.

Books on Wheels returns to East End Library

Books on Wheels will be making a return visit to the area and providing free books & free bicycle repair at the East End Library on 25th Street on Monday, July 20th, from 3-6PM.

The RTD’s Housing 101 a helpful class looks at the free first-time homebuyers class offered monthly at the East End library. Freda Green-Bolling, the VHDA-certified trainer who leads the sessions, herself bought a house in Fairmount through the Neighborhoods in Bloom program program and Better Housing Coalition.

There was a meeting tonight at the East End Library (25th and R Street) towards establishing a Library Advisory Board for the community branch library. The nascent Advisory Board is seeking representatives from local civic groups and organizations to join the board.
