This is really unfortunate, although based on the crowd (or lack thereof) during my last visit I can’t say I’m surprised. The food was phenomenal, & I really wish the best to the owners in terms of quickly finding a new location which will be around long-term.

What’s odd is that they were just written up in Style Weekly today!

I wonder how much a mention in one of these magazines is worth to a business? This is the second big mention for a local restaurant that’s not going to be open when the press comes out.

Sometimes these magazines and papers simply move too slow, especially if the business is undercapitalized, and desperate for the publicity. Feel bad this place closed. My wife and I enjoyed the food there. But we both felt it would be a tough go if you could never see people in the windows and the lighting was such you were not sure it was open. If ever a restaurant needed a lit open sign, and some people in visible in the window eating, that was the one.

Alex,

I have worked in the restaurant industry in the past and was actually working for 2 different restaurants that were reviewed in Style. Both saw a rather huge increase in business for about a week and a half or so. It was beneficial, IMHO, because it brought in some people who may not have otherwise come in. Also, we did have some repeat business of some of the customers who came in due to the article.

Jaron, with such stiff competition, the poor store front appeal, and lack of public knowledge about them… this is a study of when NOT to hold back.

What was the other restaurant that closed by the time the review came out?

And BTW… was this the same people who moved from OMG Café on 25th?

Eric, the other restaurant is Proper Pie and it is only closed for a month for vacation so that the owners can go to New Zealand to see family. It is absolutely not closed for good, they are way too popular for that, and I don’t think they will have any problem opening back up in September to their usual crowds. And yes, this was the same people who moved from OMG Cafe on 25th.
