Friends of Chimborazo Park announces new trees, seeking donations

A message form the Friends of Chimborazo Park:

Friends of Chimborazo Park is proud to announce that we will be the recipient of a donation of Yoshino Cherry Trees from the Richmond Regions Rotary Clubs. The bulk of these trees will be planted near the gazebo where weddings are held and movies are shown.

In conjunction with this gift, we are seeking donations for perennial flowers to plant in beds near the trees as well as for hoses, sprinklers and other supplies to maintain the area. Our goal is to raise $350 through neighborhood donations. This money will help make Chimborazo Park a special place to visit.

We are still threshing out a date for the planting, but a follow up notice will be posted on CHPN with the dates and calling for volunteers to assist.

Donors can email me at Friendsofchimborazo@gmail.com or mail donations to Friends of Chimborazo Park, 3308 East Broad Street, Richmond VA 23223. Checks should be made payable to ENRICHMOND with Friends of Chimborazo Park on the For line.

It looks like the trees will be planted May 18th. We will need volunteers to help dig holes and to spread mulch afterwards.

Additionally, we are still seeking donations for plants and supplies.
