Rick Tatnall to challenge Mayor Jones

Longtime local activist and Church Hill resident Rick Tatnall is the first candidate to announce that he’ll run for Richmond mayor. Tatnall, 54, says he felt compelled to run for office because the city urgently needs to overcome its inertia and develop a long-term plan. “We can’t allow four more years of what’s going on [...]

An early look at the 2012 local elections

This year Richmonders will be voting at the local level for city council, school board, and mayor. Candidates have until summer to officially get on the ballot; here is a look at where we start off 2012…

Will Quigley, Smith, or Kelly garner [...]

Scott leads Smith in money race

The awesome Virginia Public Access Project has added information on this season’s Congressional races. In the 3rd District, incumbent Bobby Scott has more than $100,000 more in the coffers than his Republican challenger (though much less than many of the other incumbent candidates).

Coleman does not endorse Smith for Congress

Republican candidate Chuck Smith today released a list of 12 “Third District Churches Backing Chuck Smith”, a list which includes 7th District School Board representative Don Coleman and Bishop Darryl F. Husband of Mount Olivet Church. It turns out, though, that at least Coleman has not endorsed Smith and says that he is “offended” by [...]

Scott faces 3rd challenger in Green Party’s Kelly

Joining Libertarian candidate James Quigley and Republican candidate Chuck Smith in a bid to unseat Bobby Scott in November will be John D. Kelly of the Independent Greens of Virginia.
