Planning Commission to look at Beckstoffer’s, 25th Street

The agenda for the February 22 City Planning Commission Meeting (PDF) includes a look at the plans for the Beckstoffer’s development on 28th Street and a move to conditionally rezone 7 North 25th Street from M-1 to B-5.

BHC’s Community Day @ Beckstoffer’s

The Better Housing Coalition had their Community Day today at the former Beckstoffer’s Mill. Food was served, kids bounced in a moon bounce, community groups had tables set up, and tours were given of the now vacant mill.

Better Housing Coalition is celebrating its 20th Anniversary this April, and as a part of the celebration are hosting a Community Day event on Sunday April 5 from noon-4PM. The event will be held at the former Beckstoffer’s Lumber Mill at 28th and R Streets.

Beckstoffers at Church Hill?

7th District Council Representative Delores McQuinn and T.K.Somanath of the Better Housing Coalition hosted a community meeting about a proposed development at the former Beckstoffer’s on 28th Street. Featuring a bold design by Urban Design Associates, BHC would like to build a mix of both attached single-family homes and condo/apartment units on the land.

Folks in the trade are saying that Beckstoffer’s, the custom millwork joint on 28th Street, is in the process of selling off all the good stuff and going out of business.
