Sunny Market now even more gross (UPDATED)

The old Sunny Market is a bad neighbor to the homes behind it on 26th Street and O Street. Standing water several feet deep in the loading depot out back has become a bathroom of choice for certain folks and there is already heavy insect activity in the area.

Delores McQuinn hosted a 7th District Town Hall Meeting this morning at the historic Mt.Sinai Baptist Church on 25th Street. The agenda included presentations by M.Khara on the 25th Street Traffic Control Circle, representatives from the Department of Public Utilities on Senior Heating Bills/Payment Plans, a preview on 2008 Assessment Updates, and the petition for traffic-slowing measures on Venable Street.

We’ve heard that a new bar or restaurant is coming to the former location of Malone’s Place on the 400 block of North 25th Street (next to the East End Post Office). There are guys there right now clearing out the building.

WTVR6 is reporting a two-alarm fire affecting several buildings in the 1000 block of North 25th Street. Two people had to be rescued from inside one of the buildings.
