5-year-old shot in head @ 24th and M Streets
A 5-year-old girl was accidentally shot in the head by a 10-year-old boy inside a home at 24th and M Streets just after 11PM last night. Judy Wright, the boy’s mother and the owner of the gun, was at work when the shooting took place and has been charged with felony child neglect. The 10-year-old and a 2-year-old also in the house were scooped up by social services. [via]

Bill Conkle has recently purchased the long-vacant and much admired 1855 house at 801 North 24th Street. He opened up the house to neighbors on Thursday so that we could get a good look at the “before” version of the house.

accident at Venable and 24th
An accident at Venable and 24th Streets involving a police cruiser and an allegedly “very drunk man” in a minivan left the cruiser wedged against a power pole, the minivan smashed in the middle of 24th, and parts and pieces of both scattered all over the intersection. At the scene, at least one of the elderly residents of the Church Hill House was complaining of being hit by debris from the accident; no word on possible injuries to either of the drivers.

shooting on 1100 block of 24th Street
Two men were shot at THAT ORANGE HOUSE on the 1100 block of 24th Street. Initial reports are that one of the victims was shot in the back of the head and “does not look good”. Police are out in force with dogs and there is a plane spotlighting alleys in the area.
