Rehabilitation plan approved, church seeking financial help

Wouldn’t it just be cheaper to build a new one? Not all historic buildings need saving and once it gets this far down the road, it’s probably not cost effective. From a historical perspective, I imagine there won’t be much left of the original building anyway.
